Trying to be as green as possible
There is much more about this on my blog, but the long and short of it is that I
am working to use as many local materials as possible to create my work. I see
little reason to import my clay when I have so much in my own backyard. Yes,
I give up some workability, but I gain the knowledge that I am helping to cut
down on uneccesary shipping and a myriad of other environmental concerns.
Malley digging clay in Livermore Falls, ME
I feel it's important to help our environment
by cutting back on firings and doing everything
I can to work with nature. I once fire my work
in an electric kiln and am currently working on
a fast-fire wood kiln supplemented by
recycled vegetable oil. If you have any
questions about locating and using your own
clay please feel free to contact me. I am
happy to share what I know. I am also
available for lectures and speaking
engagements.
